Adventures at Home: Keeping Kids Engaged with Fun and Discovery

As we continue in our new way of life at home, we know many of our employees and customers are looking for ways to keep their families engaged and entertained. This list of at home activities from family fun to coloring book pages and more from our environmental and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) partners makes it easy to find something new and fun for you and your children.

  • NASA – Blast off with NASA’s STEM lessons for K-4th grade students.  
  • National Geographic – Explore the globe from home with National Geographic’s online classroom resources.
  • REI – REI has some great ideas for keeping kids active during social distancing.
  • Audubon Society – Visit Audubon for Kids for online learning.
  • California Coastal Commission – Have fun with web-based coastal activities for all ages with California Coastal Commission.
  • Elementary Institute of Science – The EIS offers a collection of fun and easy activities to practice science at home. Featured subjects include biology, engineering and marine science.
  • Fleet Science Center: FleetTVFleetTV is an exciting place where students can have fun with experiments, hands-on activities, behind-the-scenes interviews, bloopers and more, all from the comfort of their homes.
  • USS Midway Museum: Little Skippers – The Little Skippers program allows students to learn naval history and all about the USS Midway Museum from Airman Rodriguez in the comfort of their homes.
  • San Diego Air and Space Museum: SDASM TV – The SDASM recently launched SDASM TV, a series of new innovative and educationally groundbreaking video channels. It also provides STEM challenges supporting the Museum’s mission to preserve, inspire, educate and celebrate aviation and space flight history and innovation.
  • Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation – Check out the Agua Apprentices Program for environmental learning for K – 4th grade students.
  • ArtFORM – Practice creative reuse.  Use what you have around the house to craft new things.
  • Climate Science Alliance  – Bring climate education to the kitchen with the Resilient Roots Climate Cookbook.
  • I Love a Clean San Diego – Work together on a home Waste Audit to empower making changes towards waste reduction.
  • Ocean Connectors – Take a virtual field trip with the Sea Turtle Discovery from Living Coast Discovery Center.
  • OC Coastkeeper – Learn about water safety and gardening tips with OCCK Streams.
  • Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center – Get a variety of Educational resources and cooking class activities for kids and families from Olivewood Gardens.
  • Nature Collective – Have animal lovers at home? Nature collective has online animal guides of local residents.
  • San Diego Coastkeeper – Visit the resource library from San Diego Coastkeeper with videos, activity booklets, and coloring books.
  • San Diego New Children’s Museum – Bring the children’s museum to you with their printable coloring pages.
  • San Diego Zoo – See how the animals are spending their time during the stay at home order with the San Diego Zoo’s Live Web Cams.
