Due to extreme heat and high energy demand, SDG&E in conjunction with the California state electric grid operator (CAISO) activated an energy conservation demand response (DR) event starting Sunday, Sept. 4, from 4-9 p.m., continuing into today, Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 4-9 p.m. for customers enrolled in “event-based” Time-of-Use Plus (TOU Plus) and Critical Peak Pricing (CPP-D) plans.
While we are asking all our customers to voluntarily reduce their electricity consumption during peak hours to help avoid rotating outages, it is important for those enrolled in Time-of-Use Plus and Critical Peak Pricing plans to understand that they will see significantly higher per kilowatt hour charge during 4-9 p.m. on the day an event has been called.
Throughout the year, residential and business customers on a Time of Use Plus plan and businesses on a Critical Peak Pricing Plan (for business customers only) enjoy a lower rate, but on activated days, they could pay a significantly higher rate for energy use during the hours of 4-9 p.m.
. Customers who are on either of these DR event-based pricing plans receive notifications a day before the day of the event so they can prepare accordingly.
Customers can log on to SDGE.com/MyAccount to verify their pricing plan and learn more about their pricing options. Customers can also contact us at any time to discuss a pricing plan that works best for them.
We recognize and appreciate all of our customers for their efforts to conserve energy during the prolonged heatwave. For energy-saving tips and resources, please visit sdge.com/MyEnergy.
