Tonight, cities across our region will host National Night Out – an annual effort focused on strengthening crime prevention and building police-community partnerships. We will be joining some of these community-building events in our region, including the one in Imperial Beach.
This year’s National Night Out in IB will be celebrated at Rose Teeple Memorial Park, 1135 Calla Avenue. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for new enhancements at the park and the dedication of 78 new streetlights in the community, installed as a result of a partnership between the city and SDG&E.
After community members expressed concerns to the City of Imperial Beach about lack of lighting and safety issues, the city approached SDG&E about adding streetlights. We were able to install streetlights on existing utility poles to brighten up the community.
The Imperial Beach event will take place 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.. Join community organizations for a BBQ, live music, games and fun.
