It's not too late to volunteer for Coastal Cleanup Day

For more than 30 years, the environmental organization I Love A Clean San Diego has mobilized volunteers every September for Coastal Cleanup Day. Last year, thousands of San Diegans fanned out across the county to remove debris, ultimately preventing litter from making its way into the ocean.

This tradition continues on Saturday, Sept. 26, as I Love A Clean San Diego hosts the 36th annual Coastal Cleanup Day. Armed with buckets, trash grabbers, gloves and Team SDG&E masks, more than 200 Team Sempra/SDG&E employees are prepared to join thousands of volunteers across San Diego County.

And it’s not too late to sign up for this year’s Coastal Cleanup Day!

Volunteering is as easy as walking outside your front door!

Due to COVID-19, this year, I Love A Clean San Diego will not be gathering volunteers at designated cleanup sites. Instead, Coastal Cleanup Day will be easy as walking out your front door. Volunteers are encouraged to participate [only] with other members of their household to clean up around their own neighborhoods; safely making a positive impact on our environment.

In keeping with tradition, this will be the 19th year that Team Sempra/SDG&E has volunteered with I Love A Clean San Diego for Coastal Cleanup Day. Year in and year out, we are proud to help sponsor the largest environmental volunteer event of the year. Taking care of the environment -- whether through cleanup events or installing electric vehicle charging stations -- is an important part of our company culture and commitment to sustainability.
