To restore power to customers affected by this week’s Public Safety Power Shutoffs, SDG&E has begun patrolling areas where weather conditions have improved. In certain regions, it is now safe for crews to inspect equipment for damage in communities that were de-energized for public safety.
Patrolling and inspections of power lines are the first steps in the restoration process after a PSPS. Although inspections are underway, it can be difficult to predict how long an inspection may take, given the varied length of each power line, the terrain and whether aerial inspections are required. If damage is found, repairs must be made before power can be restored safely. For more information on the restoration process, click here.
SDG&E crews are working as quickly as safety allows. Customers can find the latest information on the estimated restoration times on SDG&E’s outage map, and additional resources about Public Safety Power Shutoffs at sdge.com/ready.
