SDG&E concluded its 2026 Wildfire Safety Fair series on Aug. 29, bringing together community members, public safety partners and local organizations at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center for a day focused on wildfire preparedness and emergency readiness. The event marked the fourth and final Wildfire Safety Fair of the year, capping a regional series that also stopped in Ramona, Alpine and Vista.
Throughout the summer, the Wildfire Safety Fair series helped customers strengthen their preparedness for wildfire season by providing practical safety information, emergency planning resources and opportunities to connect directly with SDG&E teams and community partners. Attendees learned how to build emergency supply kits, create family emergency plans, reduce wildfire risk around their homes and stay informed during emergencies. The fairs also featured interactive demonstrations, family-friendly activities and wildfire mitigation exhibits designed to make preparedness accessible and engaging for all ages.
The Valley Center event brought together a wide range of regional partners and showcased several crowd favorites, including SDG&E's Fire Safety Goats, live demonstrations and educational activities. Guests also received emergency preparedness resources and safety materials while connecting with experts who shared guidance on protecting homes, families and neighborhoods from wildfire threats.
“Prepared communities are safer communities,” said Vice President of Wildfire and Climate Science Brian D’Agostino. “Our Wildfire Safety Fairs gave us the opportunity to meet customers where they live, answer questions, share practical preparedness tools and strengthen partnerships across the region.
