Scattered power outages have been reported throughout our region, in part due to the heavy rains, urban flooding, and gusty winds associated with the Pacific storm.
Currently, several thousand customers are affected by outages. In at least one case, the outage was caused by a tree making contact with a power line. For the latest updates on power outages and estimated restoration times, visit sdge.com/outagemap.
Our crews are responding to each and every one of these outages and working as safely and as quickly as we can to restore power to impacted customers. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Please understand that in situations where a faulty underground cable is identified as the cause of an outage, repairs may take longer than normal due to weather conditions. When there is substantial rainfall, pumper trucks have to be first brought in to de-water a manhole before crews can begin repairs. Troubleshooters may also experience delays trying to get to repair sites because of traffic conditions.
What to Do If You Experience an Outage
- Unplug your sensitive equipment such as microwaves, computers and televisions
- Turn off any major appliances like big-screen TVs or air conditioner if the power goes out to prevent potential damage from a power surge when service is restored
- Leave a single light on so you’ll be aware the power has been restored
- Keep the refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible to help prevent food spoilage. Food in a closed freezer can stay frozen for up to two days
Supplies to Keep on Hand to Help You Weather an Outage
- A flashlight with a supply of fresh batteries
- A portable, battery-powered radio so you can keep up with the news.
- A telephone that does not depend on electricity – like a cell phone. (Cordless phones will not function during an outage.)
- A supply of easy-to-prepare nonperishable foods such as fruits, packaged snacks and bottled water and juices
- A first aid kit
- A wind up or battery-operated clock
- A manual can opener
