When you walk into a room and flip the light switch, unwind watching your favorite show after a hectic day, or plug your phone in after a long phone call with a loved one, it’s easy to forget that the power your devices run on depends on the hard work of electric lineworkers.
Today, July 10, is National Lineworker Appreciation Day. While you think about the role electricity plays in your life, it’s the perfect day to join us in recognizing the hard work of our lineworkers to keep your lights, devices and communication with loved ones going strong, especially through the pandemic.
SDG&E lineworkers work tirelessly throughout our region every day, building, maintaining and repairing electric infrastructure to keep our communities safe and fully powered. Electric first responders brave heights, high voltages and tough weather to deliver safe, reliable power to our customers and are there to conduct repairs day or night, rain or shine to make sure our customers have the power they need.
At SDG&E, we’re proud to partner with the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) Local 465 to ensure our customers—and the San Diego region as a whole—benefit from their skilled workers’ knowledge, experience and dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety.
Join us and IBEW 465 in appreciating the hard work of our electric lineworkers, who not only keep our lights on, but keep us feeling close to our loved ones through challenging times.
