Our crews controlled the gas at 1:01 p.m. Estimated time of service restoration still remains unknown. Crews will begin to assess damage, followed by repairs. Once damage is assessed, then a restoration plan will be created.
Update at 9:30 a.m.
At around 8 a.m., an underground gas line near the main entrance to the San Diego Zoo was broken. The damage to the line was caused by a third-party construction contractor. There were no injuries.
Gas service to all facilities at Balboa Park has been shut down, with the exception of the Museum of Man. We do not currently have an estimated time for restoring service. The priority right now is to cap the line and control the gas. Once the gas is controlled, and the area is made safe, crews can begin to make repairs.
