SDG&E Kicks Off Series of Wildfire Safety Fairs for 2024

SAN DIEGO, – May 13, 2024 – SDG&E is proud to announce the commencement of its 6th Annual Wildfire Safety Fairs, aimed at fostering community engagement, preparedness, and safety amidst the ever-present threat of wildfires in the San Diego region. This year, SDG&E is hosting a total of four fairs, each designed to provide families with essential resources, education, and family-friendly fun.

The Wildfire Safety Fairs have become a staple event for SDG&E, marking its commitment to address wildfire safety and preparedness in the community proactively. These fairs serve as an opportunity for families to come together, learn about wildfire prevention and response strategies, and interact with local experts and resources.

"We are thrilled to host the Wildfire Safety Fairs once again and continue our tradition of promoting community safety and preparedness," said Brian D’Agostino, vice president of wildfire and climate science at SDG&E "As we enter wildfire season, it is crucial for residents to be equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones. Our success has been rooted in partnerships with local agencies, first responders, and community organizations, fostering a network of support and preparedness that collectivity strengthens our ability to support our customers."

The fairs will offer a wide range of family-friendly activities and resources, ensuring an informative and enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages. Highlights of this year's fairs include:

  • Interactive Exhibits: Explore interactive exhibits featuring the latest technologies and strategies for wildfire prevention and emergency preparedness.
  • Giveaways: Attendees will have the chance to win exciting giveaways that can enhance their personal emergency preparedness kits.
  • Enjoy complimentary refreshments while engaging with wildfire safety experts and fellow community members.
  • Fire-fighting Goats: Get up close and personal with our furry friends as our brush-clearing goats make a special appearance at the fairs.
