In the Community: SDGivE Edition

This holiday season, SDG&E employees are checking off a different kind of list. Their lists include organizing food drives, painting community centers, and assembling supply kits for families. This is all part of SDGivE, the company's annual volunteer blitz that turns holiday cheer into tangible community action. For the fifth year, the initiative is fueling a wave of employee-led projects, proving that the company’s capacity for good is powered by the creativity and passion of its people.

What makes SDGivE so unique is its grassroots energy. While the Community Relations team coordinates many events, the program truly comes to life through the employees themselves. They are the driving force, encouraged to create and lead their own volunteer projects over the course of six weeks. This approach ensures that helping hands are directed exactly where they are needed most, making every effort deeply personal and local.

The range of these projects reflects the diverse needs of the region. You will find SDG&E teams distributing food at local pantries, revitalizing public spaces through beautification projects, assembling essential supply kits for families, and spending meaningful time engaging with seniors and youth. This year, the volunteer efforts will support more than 48 nonprofit organizations.

The commitment does not end with volunteer hours. To create an even greater impact, SDG&E provides a financial grant for each approved project, ranging from $500 to $3,000. This direct funding provides a critical boost to the nonprofits, helping them sustain their vital missions.

“SDGivE truly shows who we are as a company,” said Manager of Community Relations Shaina Gross. “Our people bring their incredible passion and time to causes they care about, and we get to back them up with financial support. It is a powerful combination that builds stronger, lasting partnerships  with the organizations making a difference every day.”

This longstanding tradition has become a cornerstone of the company’s culture, demonstrating that the greatest holiday gift is a community coming together to support one another.
