This Earth Month, we're proud to highlight the work of our Customer Programs Policy & Support Supervisor, David Hueser, who is a sustainability champion and a regular at our Green Team meetings and Environmental All Stars events. David is passionate about protecting the environment and doing his part to reduce food insecurity in our local communities.
A Commitment to Giving Back
David is a dedicated member of our Customer Programs team contributing to making a positive impact in the community through his volunteer work. He is an active Environmental All Star who is committed to environmental nonprofits across San Diego. David has also participated in large team volunteer events organized by Customer Programs, partnering with Feeding San Diego and Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center in National City. His personal volunteer efforts, include supporting food banks like the Family Assistance Ministries in San Clemente, further demonstrating his passion for community service.
Motivation to Serve
When asked about his motivation, David shared, "Helping to address food insecurity is very important to me." His commitment stems from his parent's value of helping others. He fondly recalls his father's words, “You help each other, it’s what you do.” One of his most memorable experiences was volunteering at GraceFull Café, a "pay what you can afford" restaurant in the Denver area, showcasing his dedication to inclusive community initiatives.
Making a Difference in the Community and at Work
So far this year David has already logged 27 volunteer hours and this year he aims to deepen his engagement with organizations like Family Assistance Ministries, focusing on improving the quality of life for those in need.
His volunteer efforts also complement his professional role where he focuses on programs like CARE, FERA, and Energy Savings Assistance, which help customers needing financial assistance. Participating in Customer Programs’ Feeding San Diego volunteer event last year was especially impactful, as the group was able to pack thousands of pounds of apples, kiwis and potatoes benefiting food banks and families during the holiday season.
Thank you for all that you do, David!
