Jacki Erwin has always been mindful of two things: the environment and her budget. Given the soaring price of eggs these days, her neighbors are benefiting from her frugal ways too, as Jacki provides them with eggs from her chickens on a weekly basis. It’s yet another way the energy healer brings good energy to those around her.
Jacki, who calls herself the neighborhood “Chica-mom” lives in Escondido with her daughter, Daisha. She prides herself on making smart choices that not only benefit their home but also contribute to a greener future. So, when she received an email about SDG&E’s Residential Energy Solutions (RES) Program, she couldn’t help but count her chickens before they hatched. It seemed like a perfect fit.
“After looking further into it, it seemed like the right thing to do,” Jacki says.
A quick call to SDG&E-authorized contractor, Synergy Companies, set things in motion. Once she scheduled an assessment, everything fell into place.
The RES Program is designed to help single-family homeowners and renters achieve Zero Net Energy (ZNE) by providing no-cost energy efficiency products and services. Through the program, participants can receive various energy-efficient upgrades—all free of charge.
For Jacki, the experience was seamless. “They came, checked out my heating and AC unit, made sure everything was working properly, and installed the necessary upgrades. It was super easy, they were very nice, and everything was free,” she says with a smile.
For Jacki, the appeal of the program is multifaceted. “The fact that it was free and all of the above,” she laughs. “I always want to save money, and I’m always concerned about the environment.”

She has peace of mind, knowing that they are doing the right thing for the planet.
Jacki is energy-conscious, making thoughtful decisions to minimize waste and optimize efficiency. She even has solar panels on her home, which further contribute to her savings and sustainability efforts.
Daisha, Jacki’s daughter, is also benefiting from the program. Their new energy-efficient home is a comfortable place to hang out and she has peace of mind, knowing that they are doing the right thing for the planet. And, as any kid might, she loves the tech-savvy aspects of the upgrades. “She thinks it’s cool that we can control everything from our phones,” Jacki says.
The RES Program energy assessment took just under an hour, and Jacki was impressed with the simplicity of the process. “They scheduled an appointment, showed up, did the assessment, installed the upgrades, and that was it! Super easy.”

They’re making a lasting impact—not just on their household budget, but on the environment too.
For Jacki and Daisha, the program has been more than just an upgrade—it’s been a step towards a smarter, more efficient home. By embracing these small but significant changes, they’re making a lasting impact—not just on their household budget, but on the environment too.
Supporting homeowners like Jacki through the RES Program is one way SDG&E is reimagining energy affordability and helping to shape a greener future for our region and beyond.
With the push of a button on her phone, Jacki can now manage her home’s energy use effortlessly, ensuring that every kilowatt counts. And for this environmentally conscious, budget-savvy mom, that’s a win-win. For more information, visit sdge.com/RES
