San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has successfully restored power to all 490 customers impacted by an unplanned outage that occurred minutes after a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Julian, California, earlier today. While the investigation into the exact cause remains ongoing, preliminary assessments suggest the outage was likely related to seismic activity.
SDG&E’s field workforce has completed all major infrastructure assessments for damage and have reported an all clear with no damage.
Crews will continue to monitor infrastructure closely as aftershocks may continue to impact the region.
The safety of our customers is our highest priority. If customers encounter a downed power line or gas leak, they should call 1-800-411-SDGE (7343). Additionally, report any downed power lines to 911 and SDG&E.
Stay away from downed power lines and any suspected damaged electrical equipment. Never attempt to move or touch them.
