Our crews have restored power to all customers affected by this week’s Public Safety Power Shutoff.
SDG&E began de-energizing customers earlier this week in response to elevated wildfire weather conditions and Santa Ana winds. This proactive measure was taken to reduce wildfire risk and protect public safety.
SDG&E opened up Community Resource Centers in the affected areas, providing customers with services such as Wi-Fi, food, and phone and medical device charging. With power now restored, all of the Community Resource Centers have been closed.
We sincerely thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this time.

Elevated fire weather conditions and Santa Ana winds continued overnight and into Thursday morning in San Diego’s backcountry meriting additional overnight Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) in certain communities to help reduce wildfire risk and protect public safety.
As of Thursday morning, approximately 1,250 customers in the communities of Boulevard, Campo, Descanso, Jamul, Potrero and the Viejas Reservation have been de-energized. An up-to-date list of impacted communities can be found at sdge.com/ready.
SDG&E’s Emergency Operations Team continues to monitor weather conditions to determine when it will be safe to restore power to impacted customers. Before power can be safely restored, extreme weather conditions must pass, allowing crews to inspect power lines and equipment to ensure their safe operation, and if needed, repair damage caused by weather conditions. Consequently, inspections of those lines can only be completed during daylight hours. For more information on the restoration process, click here.
Community Resource Centers will remain open until power is restored in the communities impacted by PSPS. These Centers are equipped with resources to support anyone who needs it, including Wi-Fi and phone and medical device charging. The most current list of impacted communities as well as Community Resource Center locations and hours of operation can be found at sdge.com/ready.

Due to elevated fire weather conditions and forecasted Santa Ana winds, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has notified 24,700 customers in the backcountry that it may have to turn off power to reduce wildfire risk as early as Wednesday morning. Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are approved by state regulators as an important safety tool of last resort to mitigate fire risk during dangerous weather conditions.
November 4, 2024 - 6:10 p.m.
Out of an abundance of caution, SDG&E on Monday (11/4) notified approximately 7,600 San Diego customers that it may need to initiate Public Safety Power Shutoffs late Wednesday evening through Thursday as a measure of last resort to reduce fire risk. These notifications were made via outbound dialer calls, text messages and emails.
Everyone is encouraged to sign up to receive alerts from SDG&E at sdge.com/notifications and download the free Alerts by SDG&E app on Google Play or the App Store to get real-time updates and notifications about potential public safety power shutoffs. Fire Weather Watch in effect for San Diego County Valleys and Mountains Wednesday through Thursday
Due to forecasted Santa Ana winds elevating wildfire risk in parts of Southern California, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for San Diego County Valleys and Mountains from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Peak wind gusts in San Diego backcountry areas are expected to be in the 40-50 mph range, with some isolated higher gusts in typically windy areas. Because power outages are more likely during windy conditions, we are encouraging customers to be prepared with flashlights, extra batteries, a battery-operated radio and a phone that doesn’t require electricity.
Preparation is Key
In response, we have activated our Emergency Operations Center and staffed it with key personnel like our Meteorology Team who are monitoring weather conditions throughout the duration of the event.
We also want to remind customers to always be aware of the potential for downed power lines during high winds. If you see a downed power line, always assume it is energized and never make touch the line or any other object in contact with it. Call 911 or SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 to report a downed power line.
If you’re experiencing an outage, please visit our outage map at sdge.com/outages for more information on current conditions.
